Some of the best beaches in Corsica are just a short drive from Porto-Vecchio, which makes the town an ideal base for a beach-focused holiday.
You’ll find everything from hidden coves to family-friendly bays – and many beaches offer water sports like kayaking, paddleboarding, kitesurfing and jet skiing.
Here are a few other beaches near Porto-Vecchio worth knowing about:
- Plage de Carataggio: Small, beautiful and less developed beach just north of Palombaggia.
It’s worth a quick look while you’re there.

The villages of Alta Rocca
During your holidays in Porto-Vecchio, you should really visit the authentic villages of Alta Rocca. These typical villages are located in the middle of the mountains and bordered by the Aiguilles de Bavella, the Ospedale and the Coscionu plateau.
During your visit, you’ll discover ancient bridges, mills, fountains and many beautiful small churches!
The best places to visit in Alta Rocca are:
- Carbini and its 11th-century Roman church with an impressive 7-story bell tower.
- Levie: there, you can discover the Alta Rocca Museum, dedicated to the village’s History and heritage.
- Sainte-Lucie-de-Tallano, renowned for its excellent olive oil, produced in an old mill.
- Altarène and its beautiful panoramic view.

If you only have one day in Porto-Vecchio, I guess you have other days in road trip around.

- or the Citadel, the church and one of the beaches (Palombaggia surely)
3 days in Porto-Vecchio
If you are here only for a long weekend to discover Porto-Vecchio and South Corsica, we think of:

- Day 3 = the mountains towards the Ospedale and the needles of Bavella

You will have the choice between a morning or afternoon departure. No matter which one you choose, you will discover the Cerbicales islands, the Lavezzi islands and end your cruise with an aperitif served on the boat in the bay of Piantarella.

The city of Porto-Vecchio

The ancient town of the homonymous peacock, the old town of Porto-Vecchio retains its picturesque charm. When the wind comes from the east, though, it’s nicely sheltered.
There are a couple of spots serving food and drinks, but overall Acciaghju Beach feels much less developed than both Tamaricciu and Palombaggia.

Carataggio beach

2. Nights club
And to finish your evenings, and to let off a little steam if you have any energy left, Porto-Vecchio is the most active city at night.
Via Notte is the most famous nightclub in the city.They also deliver in the surroundings.
How to get to Porto-Vecchio?
By plane
The nearest airport to Porto-Vecchio is Figari airport, located about 20 km from the city centre.
As always, you should book your plane tickets as early as possible, as the flight prices to Figari can vary a lot throughout the year!
It is within walking distance of the beach and offers fantastic views and heated pool.
