If you are in Rothenburg during the end of November to December 23rd, the Christmas Market will be in full swing!

But Rothenburg ob der Tauber is definitely among my absolute favorites!

It’s a place that so completely transports you back in time, that just seeing a car feels startlingly out of place. It’s full of information and a really eye-opening look at crime and punishment in medieval times.

There is a lot of written description which is in English as well as German.

(Mostly so I can shout at people to “Get out of my swamp!”)

You can walk across the bridge at the top, but the path at the bottom is where you get the good views. Most shops all seem to have the same things, from the same deposits, that they buy en masse. As a tour guide in Germany, I visit Rothenburg every single year.

Though you maybe didn’t know what it was called, I guarantee you’ve seen Rothenburg’s Plönlein before. Germans love dogs! But even so, there were a few places which really stood out and we give them all a big thumbs up.
